2012 : The acquisition of Simeda®

Meticulous machining of a prosthesis.

The acquisition of Simeda® in 2012 was of highly strategic importance. Established in 2007 in Luxembourg, Simeda® designed and manufactured customized prostheses by computer using a digital tool (CAD/CAM). After machining, the superstructure would be sold to laboratories that would then use it to make the final prosthesis, whose appearance and esthetic nature, including color, would match the rest of the patient’s teeth. A solid alternative to the traditional casting method, the use of digital capabilities ensured both optimal comfort and an unrivaled fit in patients’ mouths. .

To Anthogyr, this external growth was advantageous in more ways than one. It allowed the company to expand its offers of implant products and services by adding new “4.0” expertise and also gave the company its own premium product that combined the skills of a machining center and an implant manufacturer under one roof. In addition, through Simeda®, Anthogyr expanded its traditional customer base to include European laboratories.

Though its marketing approach was understandably different and required field teams to be specially trained, the company’s strategy remained comprehensive. It focused on building synergy between prosthetists and physicians to encourage the reciprocal prescription of products and also enhanced Simeda®’s line of services over the long term in high-potential countries through local sales and technical support firms. For the time being, most of Simeda®’s business is concentrated in France, Germany, and Benelux
