The review "European Journal of Oral Implantology"published a new clinical study, achieved in one year, by an italian practitioner team.

This clinical trial: "Subcrestal placement of dental implants with an internal conical connection of 0.5 mm versus 1.5 mm ?" reports 1 year after loading results of a multicenter, randomized and controlled trial.

To complete this new study, 120 Axiom® REG dental implants were placed on 60 patients requiring 2 single implant supported crowns. The depth level (0.5 mm or 1.5 mm) was determined randomly.

Site 15 was randomly allocated to receive an implant with the neck 0.5 below the crest and site 16 at 1.5 mm

Postoperative baseline periapical radiograph clearly showing the difference in depth positioning

1 year after loading, no statistical or clinical difference was noticed with placing an 0.5 mm implant or 1.5 mm implant subcrestally.

Vestibular

Periapical radiograph at 1 year after loading, showing basically unaltered marginal bone levels
